What should you do when there’s no time to think?
This is exactly what the participants in the Erasmus+ training course “Be Prepared, Don’t Panic,” held August 10–17 in Galați, Romania, learned.
The project brought together young people and youth workers from Romania, Ukraine, Turkey, Sakartvelo, and Albania to address the topics of first aid, emergency preparedness, and safety in their communities.
Throughout the week, there were plenty of practical exercises, simulations, teamwork, and opportunities to share experiences. The participants didn’t just talk about how to respond in crisis situations; they practiced the skills they might need when they have to act quickly and confidently.
During the training, they:
practiced providing first aid;
learned to assess situations and respond appropriately during crises and emergencies;
learned how to put together a first-aid kit, assess risks, and be better prepared for unexpected situations;
shared their experiences and approaches to community safety and youth work;
They looked for ways to pass on what they had learned—to young people, volunteers, and their local communities.
The “Be Prepared, Don’t Panic” project was about replacing panic with knowledge, confusion with a plan of action, and “I don’t know what to do” with a willingness to help.![]()
