From 20 to 26 June, CivicCode Hackathon brought together young people from Ukraine, Poland and Germany for 5 days in Sokołowiec, near Wrocław, Poland. 🇵🇱
Working in international teams, participants explored two key themes:
✅ Digital democracy — how technology can make civic participation simpler, more transparent and more accessible
✅ Data protection — how to stay safe in the digital space as personal information becomes increasingly vulnerable
Over the course of the week, teams:
🔸 Got to know each other and discussed the challenges facing their communities
🔸Identified local problems and brainstormed ideas to address them
🔸Took their concepts to the streets of Wrocław for a Validation Day, testing ideas directly with local residents and gathering real feedback
🔸Turned their ideas into structured microprojects with clear goals and expected outcomes, supported by mentors throughout
🔸Presented their final concepts and received valuable feedback for improvement
By the end of the week, every team walked away with a concrete microproject ready for local implementation, new cross-border connections, and practical project management skills — along with certificates and a few handmade bracelets made together along the way.
The “CivicCode Hackathon” project is being implemented Young Agents of Change, Stowarzyszenie Warte Uwagi, World Society Builders and funded by EVZ Foundation .
