On March 5, an online workshop was held on responsible coverage of the topics of punishment, resocialization, and reintegration of people into society. The event brought together penitentiary system specialists, journalists, human rights activists, students, and anyone else working on issues of justice, resocialization, and ethics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the webinar, we discussed why the topic of resocialization is important for community safety, what challenges people face after release, and what support approaches help them return to a full life. We paid special attention to the role of the media\u2014how language, headlines, and presentation of materials shape public attitudes toward people after imprisonment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also discussed the basic principles of ethical reporting on this topic: how to avoid stigmatization, work with personal stories responsibly, and explain complex social processes without sensationalism or oversimplification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants from various fields joined the workshop. For many, it was an opportunity to better understand the topic of resocialization and obtain practical tools for working with such stories in their professional activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was held as part of the INSIGHT project, which is being implemented Young Agents of Change<\/a> in cooperation with AY Institute<\/a>, Prira\u0161ytos rankos<\/a>, Scambieuropei<\/a>, Brodoto<\/a> and funded by the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
